“La Fira de Cerveses del Poblenou” heads into its fourth edition after much success the past couple of years. In the open air of the beautiful and calm park of Poblenou, a neighborhood just north of the city center, you can try craft beers from 35 local, national, and international brewers. This weekend starting Friday and lasting through Sunday, the 3-5th of July, patrons will be able to come and go as they please, enjoying our wonderful sunshine while sipping on artisan beers. Here’s a preview of what you can look forward to!
La Fira de Cerveses del Poblenou has arguably become one of the most noteworthy craft beer fairs in Barcelona, thus proudly boasts its great lineup of brewers. The craft beer culture in Barcelona has increased drastically in the past couple of years, thus has its quality and number of local breweries. You’ll have the opportunity to taste local barcelona brews such as those from Black Lab, Ratpenat Cervesers and Tro Ales, alongside Belgian and Dutch craft breweries. Don’t miss out on local favorites from the Basque country, Mala Gissona, or Espiga from Catalonia. On Saturday at noon there will be a guided beer tasting by Belgian brewery creators Ronald Mengerink & Moniek de Baat. Throughout Saturday and Sunday, there will be many guided beer tastings, from English to Italian Breweries.
There will be tables and benches, a large space for children to play, and all just about 100 meters from the sea. It is held at Rambla de Poblenou with Passeig Calvell, in the park. The address is Passeig de Calvell 2, and the best way to arrive is to take the yellow line to Llacuna, or bus 6 or 36.
Activities & What to Expect
There will be 10 street-food stands, live music, and activities happening through the entirety of the weekend, including kid-friendly activities. The street food will be incredible, with options such as Portuguese street food, Californian cuisine, wood oven pizzas, argentinean empanadas, vegetarian cooking and more. Throughout the weekend, there will be opportunities to meet with brewers from many of the 35 breweries out at the Fira de Cerveses del Poblenou.
To kick off the festivities on Friday, there will be Afro-Brazilian music at 17:30. At 21:30 will be “The Great Toad” performing live blues, swing and rock music.
The National Beer Championship recognizes the best beers produced in Spain, open to all brewers in the state. The jury is comprised of recognized members of both the national and international beer community. Blind tastings are held, and 5 awards are given out. The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday at the fair, at 18h.
