Catch the Last Week of Barcelona’s Tapas Route!

Barcelona’s 2015 edition of “De Tapes per BCN” began the 7th of May and runs until the 17th.  This tapas route involves the participation of 68 bars and restaurants scattered throughout the city.  The offer consists of a special tapa created for the competition alongside a beer for 2,5 Euros.  Participating restaurants have thought up creative tapas with not only Spanish influence, but also Mexican, South American, and so forth. A lot is at stake to be reputed as the winner of the 2015 De Tapes, and for this reason restaurants make some truly tasty plates.  Combinations that are following the fusion trend will be prevalent in this year’s edition.  Head over to “Miss Sushi,” where you’ll be offered a maki, with shrimp tempura, asparagus, and fish eggs.  For a truly typical Catalan choice, look into stopping by “Bar Nuria.”  This establishment is an iconic restaurant of Barcelona which will present a mini hamburger made with butifarra (a typical spanish sausage) with escalivada (slow oven-baked vegetables such as red pepper and onion, soaked in oil) with an alioli sauce (a typical catalan sauce made of garlic, egg and oil).

The establishments for this year’s tapas route are distributed through the most emblematic neighborhoods of our lovely city — such as Raval, Sants, Sarria, Montjuic, and Les Corts.  Enjoy an afternoon strolling from bar to bar, tasting the various tapas! For the next edition, the route will be to the right side of the Rambla, including the most central areas of the Gothic Quarter and Paseo de Gracia.

The iconic zones of Eixample offer fantastic cuisine, head out to see what the buzz is about!
